Hi Everyone
Yes, yesterday we made the campground in Apache Juntion/Mesa Arizona. Here the cactus and mountains are pushing up into the sky...warm days and nights. We traveled from Deming, New Mexico through miles and miles of prairie and sage brush to Safford , Arizona. We only stopped to sleep and play golf at 3 county golf courses. At Globe, Arizona the climate and country side changed to rugged red mountains and statues of cactus. We are glad to be spending 3 days in Mesa at Greenfield RV resort and celebrating Steve Horvats 80th birthday before we fly to Calgary to pick up flight to Cuba...our last leg!

Texas is Big from Dallas to San Antonio to El Paso...
Hi to everyone!!
On October 27th we visited historic Fort Worth by taking the train and the bus to the old Fort Worth Stockyards, with its museums, western stores for boots and clothes, restaurants and even a twice daily main street walk of Texas Longhorns and the good old cattle drive complete with a lead cowboy and several drovers. Later in the day we used the excellent free transportation system to meet Ben and Birgitta at the airport as they came to join us on part of our trip. Ken Hardy from Trans Link could learn a lot by checking out a place like Dallas/Fort Worth.
The next day we left Dallas and headed towards San Antonio, but as we were passing Austin we stopped and did our own tour of the Texas State Capital building. It is a magnificent structure, under what seems to be constant renovation costing many millions. While there we had a look at the pictures of past Governors, which included several known to us like George Bush, Ronald Reagan and John Connolly. Davy Crockett was also a pretty famous fellow in the State building. After this self guided tour it was off to a camp site for the night then on the San Antonio the next morning where KOA welcomed us. After a quick check in we went golfing at Willow Springs nearby and after the game took the bus into the City to see the Fort associated with the Alamo, do the river cruise, walk about the river front and have dinner at an Irish Pub type restaurant. A beautiful city, with a wonderful warm climate and many visitors.
Next day our journey continued as we headed for Arizona via Highway 10, which took us to higher elevations and past the Caverns of Sonora. It was a very hot with temperatures of 34 degrees so we did not tour the Caverns as the owner said it would be a 2 hour walk and that it would be hot and humid in the caves. We continued on after a long day and 450 miles later pulled into the KOA at Van Horn, not far from El Paso. Ocober 31 st we played a free game of golf at the Mountain View Golf Course in our costumes. Later we travelled through El Paso and finally out of Texas into New Mexico where we drove by the largest feedlot dairies ever seen by any of us. There were at least 4 large farms, each with thousands of head of Holsteins and a smell to match. We reached Deming, New Mexico where many retired folks gather at camp grounds from northern USA and Canada. Tomorrow we are off on another adventure making our way towards Mesa, Arizona.

Cowboys and Roads from Branson,Missouri to Dallas Texas
The drive to Branson, Missouri was a lovely one the trees were in full colour and the road pleasant.
We arrived early on Saturday, October 24 and spent time down town Branson and then went to a concert that evening called The Legends with imitators George Streit, Marilyn Munroe, The Blues Brothers, The Temptations and of course Elvis Presley. We had a driver take us to where we wanted to go so we didn't have to drive the big beast. The camp ground, Shenanigans was wonderful and they helped us arrange all our good times. Branson is a place where we could go back to and still have a great time. It is a small town of 9,000 population, but is built up like it was much larger and has at least 50 concert halls, most of which have performances everyday. The next day we drove to Tulsa,Oklahoma and it was a beautiful day! We decided to play a round of golf at the Page Belcher Golf Course. We enjoyed the drive to Tulsa but, our stay was short. Tulsa is best known historically at least as being the home of Will Rogers. Oklahoma is the home state of Dick Cheney. We think he owns a concrete plant as most of the highways were built of concrete and they were rough and not well maintained. The next day we left for Dallas, Texas.
East Oklahoma is quite poor and has a large community of native people. The trend for making their living seems to be building and managing huge casinos. The drive through Dallas was amazing! Traffic was huge but the people were kind to Canadians in a big long motorhome. We made our way to the southern middle part of Dallas and near Fort Worth. Today, we got caught up with maintanence and had a golf game at the Riverside Golf Club. The weather was beautiful, about 80 F and very pleasant. Tomorrow we head off south towards San Antonio after a brief visit to historic Fort Worth. All is going well and now we once again have television. Our converter had packed it in so now are going direct to 110 only. We'll give an update in a few days.

Collingwood, Ontario to Stanton, Missouri
Hi All
Yes we have traveled almost 900 miles from Collingwood to a little place past St Louis, Missouri.
We left Wade and Jen's happy home on October 20th and on the first day we drove through the rural southern area of Ontario to Windsor and on through Detroit. We spent the first night in a little place called Ypsilanti, Michigan near a Ford Automobile plant. We had a dreadful night as a terrific wind and rain storm hit, one of our motor home alarms kept going off and the heater frequently ran as it was very chilly. I think we had about 3 hours sleep! The next day we had a sunny, but windy traveling day. Of course, it was windy as we were near Chicago. We sped by the windy city and spent the night at Pontiac, Illinois and you guessed it there was a manufacturing plant for Pontiac cars in the town. Our camp site was called the Livingston 4H Camp site with barns, corrals, show rings and housing for 4H members and the judges. We were the only campers along with the camp managers. Again, a very cool night with the furnace working overtime and frost on the roof tops in the morning. Today, being October 22 we decided to have a shorter drive and play golf as the weather had turned much warmer and the wind had dropped.
We golfed at the Mermac Lake Golf course and it was shorts weather today. Tonight we are at Stanton, Missouri and tomorrow we are off to Branson.

Siggi and Carmen's Trading Post and Pumpkins
Hi Everyone. On Saturday there being no school and Wade not being on call we decided to contact our old friends Sigi and Carmen and arrange a visit. They are on Sturgeon Lake at Cameron about 2 and a half hours from Collingwood. It was a beautiful day and we decided to make the trip.Everyone in the family loaded up in the Volvo and the way we went through the beautful lake and cottage country. Sigi was working at the Trading Post, a store, deli, restaurant, etc.and we were amazed at the size and scope of the business.
It was so good to see Sigi and Carmen and we enjoyed an excellent lunch at the Trading Post. After a little shopping we headed out to their home on the lake for refreshments and hors d'oevres. The Trading Post is something else, especially when one considers that both Carmen and Sigi are seniors. We enjoyed the day, friends and family...
On Sunday, it dawned another beautiful day so we drove to the top of Blue Mountain and then Jen, Bob and the kids hiked down to the village. Blue Mountain is not a Whistler or a Blackcomb, but is one of Intrawest's successful ski resorts. Then it was off to Rounds Ranch where the kids did a lot of activities including a maze and a hay ride to the pumpkin patch. There is going to be a lot of pumpkins carved around here. Then it was on to Barrie where we took the motorhome to Midas for servicing and then on to Jen's parents for a Thanksgiving dinner, which was delicious. Unfortunately, Jen's Dad was away moose hunting so we didn't get to see him. Then it was return to Collingwood and get ready for Monday and school and work again.

Collingwood!!
Hi All
We arrived in Collingwood yesterday and enjoyed an evening with Wade's family catching up.
This morning we had a sightseeing tour around Collingwood and visited Wade and Jen's
new home where they will be moving to on November1.
We also visited Georgian Bay and Wade's work place, a Clinic down town. The fall colors are spectacular.
We have planned to have a fun week end with the children pumpkin hunting and visiting friends.
The motorhome is going for a tune up Monday and we are getting ready for the trip south.
More to come in a couple of days so keep posted!

Beginnings- Day before we start-October12, 2010
Hello Everyone
Yes we are at it again ....traveling via airplane, car, motorhome, and airplane.
We have 3 trips in one...cheaper this way as we don't come home.
We are leaving before dawn tomorrow to start the first leg , a flight to Toronto and a car trip to Collingwood, Ontario to have a visit with Wade and his family...Next week we start our adventure southward to Texas and finally reaching Mesa , Arizona. After a short visit with friends in Mesa we head to Calgary via airplane and then Cuba. We will return to Richmond in mid November. We invite you to join us in our adventure.
